A Children’s Studio

began as a home-based preschool in 2013 using the Italian Reggio Emilia philosophy of education to guide play-based, hands-on experiential learning focusing on school readiness skills such as social-emotional development and pre-academic awareness. 

 

During the years of in-person learning, “The Studio” was home to a group of

diverse, creative and bright children for daily Preschool Programming. 

During the period of Covid, “The Studio” transitioned to online classes for local San Diego families, students of the Fremont Union School District (San Francisco,) and inland empire families through the Virtual Prep Academy where Ms. Laurie taught PreK, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten.  

 

Starting September 8, 2026,

A Children’s Studio offers a semester long, bi-weekly “live” Zoom based PreK/ TK

for students ages 3.5- 6 years old.  This program follows traditional school calendars. 

The course requires adult supervision and at times & adult participation,

especially early in the year as students become familiar with

Ms. Laurie, classmates, class routines and expectations.  

 

Each day,

students will experience a typical PreK/ TK day, starting with circle time activities to build school readiness such as name recognition, social interaction, patience and attention, and public speaking. Circle time is filled with song & dance for gross motor development. 

Students then enjoy a block of  Language Arts, Math, Science and History

where hands-on activities support learning. 

We end the class with arts & crafts where fine motor skills are sharpened. 

*Parents are required to have a dedicated learning space where students can focus undisturbed *And have the required learning materials on hand for their child’s participation.  
 

PreK/ TK runs Tuesday & Thursday from 9:00am to 11:30am.
