A Supervised Visitation Monitor is a professional, neutral, trained, and background-checked, third-party individual who primarily oversees interactions between a parent and their child to ensure the child's mental, physical, and emotional safety during visitations.  Monitors remain present at visitation, observe all parties, take detailed notes on child & adult behavior and interactions.  If court-ordered, monitors report any & all concerns to the Court and may offer court testimony as required.  Monitors may also supervise visits with other parties designated by families or courts.  Additionally, monitors can provide transportation services and/or supervise pick up & drop off exchanges from one parent to the other.

Families are always welcome to hire monitors -even if the court has not ordered it.  Their presence provides a safe and structured environment for successful visits.  Monitors must adhere to strict professional standards and are “Mandated Reporters,” obligated to report any concerns of abuse or neglect to local child protective services agencies.

The most important thing to understand about Supervised Child Visitation Monitoring is that the monitor’s sole responsibility is to assure the child’s physical, emotional, and intellectual safety. Monitors may end visits IF they feel the child is in any  danger, feeling too much anxiety, or if parties do not abide by the “rules of visitation.”

The monitor is bound by confidentiality (unless data is requested by the Court.)

Be assured, your child is the most important client a monitor can have.

The process of hiring a Supervised Child Visitation Monitor may begin with the courts.  Once an order in in place, they may suggest a specific monitor or provide a list of local professionals.  Once selected, all clients are required to meet the monitor for an initial in-take or orientation.  At this meeting, all parties will review the process, expectations, complete contracts, and provide required documentation to build a file.  Then, the first monitor visit can take place.

A Children’s Studio requires parties to schedule visits in advance, pre-pay for visits with a 2 hour minimum, and attend all scheduled visits on-time.  If illness or other emergencies prevent parties from attending their scheduled visit, 24 hour notice is required.
